Another day in our lives...........

I guess it would be nice of me to post bit in a blog I created for my friends and family and some of those that happened to stumble upon my page.

Yeah, I haven't posted in a while. I haven't really had much to say. Life rears its ugly head and you become either a boring slob or a busy bee. Well, my life has been immersed in both aspects..but mostly a boring slob. Lately, just hanging around the good old computer or reading.

I stopped watching the soaps again. Sometime life would suck me into those programs and then I will feel like I have to live through them. I had to cut those shows off at the knees. You kind of get sick of getting emotional over a fictional character that you know in real life would never do that. Ugh! And I'm still running but not like I used to. It's either age or I really did something but I can't seem to get on the treadmill everyday. I'm lucky to get to 7 miles and on good days maybe 8. But this is like every other or every 2 days. I try doing yoga in between. I haven't done 10 miles in like forever. I almost did it yesterday but my legs just couldn't seem to lift after 9 miles. Total dead weight....like running in sand. Anyway, at least I'm still running even though it's not like it used to be. Ugh.

Lately, it's been me and Harry Potter. I'm finally on book 7. I'm about 1/3 of the way through. I had to start at book 5 over again since I had started it but got bored with it. So I stumbled through it and wondered why I had given it up. Anyway, I read that book...Bobby had book 6...Eric had book 7. It was quite funny all 3 of us wrapped up in our books and poor Matthew, the odd kid out, was stuck to playing video games because we were too busy to bother with him. Lauren didn't care as long as you kept her cuppy fresh with milk and she had plenty of cookies to keep her occupied. Oh, and a "meow, meow" near by for her to harass. She has plenty of bites on her forearm to prove it. You'd think she'd learn. But then she is the niece of my sister and has Kim learned?

Bobby is at his new unit but they have no clue where to put him. So he's been going to work but coming home by lunch. He's really lovin' this summer. Had a month off, then they gave him 10 days off to take care of family stuff (we were already here so he really didn't need to do anything), and then he signs into his unit and they don't know what to do with him. So he's got half-days pretty much. We usually see him before noon or at noon.

Matthew had his adenoids and tonsils removed. His first week was hell on both me and him. He couldn't eat (wasn't even able to swallow his own saliva). He pretty much swallowed his pain meds and antibiotic and that was it. I'd give him droppers full of milk or ice cream, anything, to eat. I was so worried he would get severely dehydrated or die. He was pitiful. It was mainly his ears. All of the nerves are connected from the throat, nose and ears. Even though the throat was sensitive, the pain radiated to the ears when he swallowed. But it was like a switch, just one day, he just started eating. Almost took a week. He is now back to normal somewhat. His ears no longer hurt nor do the tonsils. But......he still sounds funny but that is normal. His recovery paperwork says that he could sound "funny" for up to 3 months or longer. Oh well. I just hope to see improvement in other areas.....reasons for the tonsilectomy and adenoidectomy.

Eric has become the typical pre-teen. Oh, the backtalking. Testing my limits. He's at that age where he is too young for things but thinks he's of age. I look back and have to admit there were things I was allowed to do that he wants to do but then times were different and I don't think my mom was overly worried. These days...well...it scares me and I'll admit I have him on a short leash. But thanks to technology, the beloved cellphone, I'm able to let him loose more often. Geez, he'll be 13 in a few short months. And might I add that he likes to hoard over my head the fact that he finished the Harry Potter book before me and likes to send me into a tail spin with spoilers! I usually have to walk past him with my forefingers in my ears singing "la-la-la-la."

Lauren will be 2 soon. We've been working on potty training her. She is so obstinate. Some days, she does so good, then others, not so well. Oh, and she loves to be naked. OMG! We can't keep clothes on her. She strips for no reason and runs around the house in her birthday suit. I don't really mind but Bobby has a freakazoid. I guess because she's a little girl and there is so much testosterone in this house. It's not seamly to him. At least when she has no clothes on....she uses the potty. If she does have a diaper on, she will use it instead. I just wish she understood to take it off first then run to the potty. We have a potty in the living room and the bathroom. But I'm in no hurry. She is terribly smart and will learn soon enough. Oh, and besides stripping for the masses...she likes to table dance too. And let's not forget that if she had a microphone, she'll sing too. There has been many a time we've caught her buck naked, standing on a table or pretty much anything with height, and singing to her fans (the "meow-meow's"). Oh, she can rock to Old McDonald or Where is Daddy? (sung to the tune of Frere Jacque) or the Raindrop Song (a Barney song). She loves to dig through my closet and dig out my flip-flops or high heel shoes (and still be buck naked). And she has learned to actually put on her shoes (most of the time they are on the wrong foot...but some of the time they are on the right foot).

So that is that right now.
