Heroine Diaries!

You can't quit until you try
You can't live until you die
You can't learn to tell the truth
Until you learn to lie
You can't breathe until you choke
You gotta laugh when you're the joke
There's nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive

I'm soooooo looking forward to this book to come out tomorrow. I'll be at Walmart with bells on that is for sure. Why am I excited about this? This is about the life of rockstar, Nikki Sixx, bassist/co-founder of the most controversial, talked about, and loved band Motley Crue.

Geez, this will date me.....I was in 6th grade when Shout at the Devil came out. Yikes! That can't be. I'm not THAT OLD. And, yes, I have that album on vinyl!

Anyway, the book talks about his life during that period and how his life spiraled out-of-control and eventually he became a heroine addict. Its fascinating stuff. It's amazing how dying woke him up. Yes, he died. And he was brought back to life by an amazing ER team. Wow! I'll always love Motley Crue...the good and the bad. And I just read that Nikki Sixx is a family man. A family man? Whoa Nelly!

I can't wait.

Happy Birthday to me!

I was introduced to this thing called an iPod. Not by commercials with images in black wearing iPods streaming from their ears in white. No. A friend informed me of this wonderful gadget that my favorite shoe company was offering. It's called NIKE+. It is wireless. You put it in your shoe (some Nike shoes even have a secret compartment under the inserts that houses said gadget), then you hook receiver to your iPod. It tracks distance, calories, speed, time, plays music to the rhythm of your running cadence. It even predicts the future. Okay not really. But hey it does everything else. So I mosied on over the our neighborhood PX. Slapped some plastic down and bought me an Apple. Got home. Logged onto to my wireless internet and went straight to Nike.com. I ordered the Nike+ Sport kit. And lucky me....the PX sells the shoes. I don't really need them but hey.....if the shoe fits.........................

I'm wearin' it!

Another post. Aren't you excited?

Well, this morning was a bummer. Again my treadmill is having issues. It's not even the motor. My running board has cracked yet again and now I have to call NordicTrac and complain. And I'm sure they'll ask me how much I weigh, as usual. I guess they can't comprehend the fact that pressed board is not strong enough to last past a few months if you use it almost every day. And this time I've stopped running 10 milers everyday. I'm lucky to get 8 miles every other day now. This is insane. This is a running treadmill...not for walkers. This thing can go 10 mph. Do you know a walker who walks 10 mph? I don't. Anyway, so now I have to freak out and figure out how to get my miles in before the TX sun comes and blisters the pavement. It is August you know.

On another front, I've googled a Japanese recipe site that is blogged by a real Japanese woman with children and she puts the recipes down that she fed her family for the day. It is so cool because it's authentic, not pre-packaged crap. Of course, some of the recipe ingredients will be hard to come by but lucky us..being in the military..there are buttloads of Asian markets around here. I'm looking forward to making AUTHENTIC ramen. I don't think I'll be making lots of tempura or none at all since all that is is breaded, deep-fried, cholesterol killing food. Ha! But I can't wait to make miso soup, udon/soba noodles, and all the other stuff. No sushi (not that I don't like it....I really do) because it takes a master to make those. But that is okay! This is exciting stuff here.

Well, that is all that is happening on the homefront. "Ta-ta!" for now!
