A Band of Brothers

Another death. More pain. Bobby just discovered a "brother" died in a Chinook crash in Afghanistan last week. We discovered Friday when the list of names came down. Bobby wasn't expecting to see a name he knew. But, he always checks.

He spoke to another "brother" at Ft. Drum. That is where the one "brother" was stationed before he was sent to Afghanistan. The "brother" he spoke to is bringing the body back "home" to his resting place in Texas. Bobby, I think, is going. He took his Class A's in this morning to get them "fixed" for wearing. It's going to be Wednesday.

This said "brother" was Bobby's soldier when they first went to Iraq in 2003. They were in the "war" then. When the elite 101st Airborne Division was assigned to go. A Band of Brothers. They were one of the first to cross the border from Kuwait. A Band of Brothers. Bravo Company/101st Airborne.

This isn't Bobby's first time to see a name he knows. He's lost a few friends in the past years. But having that scab ripped off everytime when you least expect it.....hurts everytime. And, it reminds me, evertime, that my husband used to fly in those things. He might still.

A Band of Brothers...not to be forgotten!!
